Wildcats wallop Crunch

ELLIOT LAKE – The Elliot Lake Wildcats picked up multiple-point games from nine different player en route to a 9-1 drubbing of the Cochrane Crunch Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Centennial Arena.

Elliot Lake darted out to a 3-0 lead after one period on tallies by Connor Scott, Spencer MacLean and Jason Wilson.

Dustin Cordeiro fired in his 37th goal of the season to get the Crunch on the board 5:15 into the second only to see Nate Sepeda answer right back for the Wildcats just 13 seconds later.

An Adam Baxter man advantage effort and one another at even strength courtesy of Kevin Miller made it a 6-1 game after 40 minutes.

The home side then put it away in the final frame tacking on three more markers to wrap things up as Shane Woolsey, Aaron Carmichael and Wilson’s second of the evening accounted for the third period goals.

A.J. Smith made 33 saves to record the win for the Wildcats.

Brett Young and Ben Auger both saw time between the pipes for Cochrane facing a combined 50 shots in defeat.
