Ice Dogs roll over North Stars

DRYDEN, Ont. – The Dryden GM Ice Dogs got goals from eight different skaters as they rolled to an 8-1 decision over the Thunder Bay North Stars Saturday in a Superior International Junior Hockey League encounter at Memorial Arena.

Blake Peavey got things going for the home side with the lone marker of the opening period.

Dryden tacked on three more markers in the middle session to take a 4-0 lead after 40 minutes on tallies from Derek McPhail, Ryan Scott and Jonathon Philley, who added his effort via the power play.

Blake Berg and Dylan Cusmano extended the GM Ice Dogs cushion in the third before Bradley Belisle dashed Tate Sproxton’s shutout with 2:54 to go.

Dryden finished things off in the final minute getting goals from Kent Walchuk and Drew Walske to complete the romp.

Sproxton finished with 23 stops in earning the win for the GM Ice Dogs.

Eric Mann started for Thunder Bay and allowed four against in suffering the loss with Nathaniel Dupuis also giving up four in relief as the North Stars combined to face 37 shots in defeat.
