Jack Eichel added to 2015 U.S. Men’s National Hockey Team

Forward Jack Eichel (North Chelmsford, Mass./Boston University) has been added to the 2015 U.S. Men’s National Team that will compete at the International Ice Hockey Federation Men’s World Championship May 1-17 in Ostrava and Prague, Czech Republic.

 
Eichel will be representing the United States for the fifth time in IIHF competition. A two-time U.S. National Junior Team member (2014, 2015), Eichel was captain of the U.S. squad that competed in the 2015 IIHF World Junior Championship in Montreal and Toronto. He also served as an alternate captain for the gold-medal-winning U.S. entry in the 2014 IIHF Men’s Under-18 World Championship and helped the United States earn a silver medal in that same event in 2013.
 
Eichel played the 2014-15 campaign as a member of the Boston University men’s ice hockey team and became just the second freshman ever to capture the Hobey Baker Memorial Award, significant of the top player in NCAA Division I men’s ice hockey. He helped the Terriers advance to the NCAA championship game in Boston and finished the season as the nation’s leader in points (71), assists (45), power play points (23) and plus-minus (23).
 
Prior to his time at BU, Eichel played two seasons at USA Hockey’s National Team Development Program where he collected 139 points (67-72) in 111 games.
 
Team USA’s roster now has 10 forwards, seven defensemen, and one goaltender.
