The Death Pool – Special Report – The End Of EA Sports Management?

Stupid is as stupid does.  Ha Ha Ha  I love that line!  Turns out, the water shortage in California may be causing some peoples brains to dehydrate and become stupid!

It was just a couple of years ago that Frank Robledo, founder of EA Sports Management in Los Angeles gained a certain level of infamy in hockey circles with his hiring of seasoned experts.  This story was reported and made famous two years by our friends and competitors at Junior Hockey.

Ahhhhhh yes, the good old days.  When start up junior leagues were all the rage!

Everyone really questioned the ability and experience of Frank Robledo when it came to hockey after the handling of Brendan O’Reilly and his signing in the WHL.  O’Reilly as it turned out was the only player ever tagged as a client of EA Sports Management publicly.  But you know, they have a ton of experience!

Yet EA Sports Management claimed the following on their website;

“From the top line Center in the NHL all the way down to the 4th line left winger on a Bantam hockey club, we have the experience, dedication and contacts to help each athlete continue their development and become the best. We have created a network of General Managers, Coaches, and Scouts at every level, from the NHL down to the AHL and ECHL levels. As well as covering the Major Junior and College routes, where we have recently built a framework of GM’s and coaches in all of the NCAA Division 1 conferences, USHL, NAHL and BCHL, as well as the WHL and OHL for Major Junior bound players. Elite Advisors Sports Management has also partnered with an overseas agency who will assist with placing players seeking opportunities overseas in Finland, Sweden, the Czech Republic, Russia, Germany, Switzerland, Italy, Norway and Slovakia.”

As it turns out, Frank Robledo’s claims of having been a former Morgan Stanley investment advisor, as well owner of a mortgage business may have lead him down a very precarious financial path with one of his clients.

Frank Robledo was arrested on Wednesday August 5th, and is alleged to have stolen over $200,000 from LPGA player Maria Hernandez, a client of his firm, Elite Advisors Sports Management. Prosecutors allege Robledo convinced Hernandez to give him the money as an investment in two companies, which Robledo then allegedly turned around to use for personal expenses.

Ohhhhhhhh snap!  200 Grand kids!  Ummmm yeah, that’s a lot of golf balls.

Then again when you see and agency saying shit like this on their website you might just be an idiot to sign with them anyway;

“Like the Kings of the Roundtable in Camelot, we have tried to emulate our own Camelot, whereby only bringing in the best minds to advise us with our clients and their goals. From contract negotiations, down to a personal concierge, we help our athletes in every facet of their professional and personal life.”

That’s right kids, a reference to the mythical Round table of Camelot!  Seriously, we couldn’t make this stuff up if we tried.

Looks like Frank Robledo personally concierged his way to fresh towels and turn down service with Darren Sharper in cell bock 69! Ha Ha Ha

Turns out that now the EA Sports Management website is down.  Good thing I know how to get those old cached web pages to come up.  Then again it might just be a server glitch, I mean with 200 grand, you should have at least paid the hosting bill there Frank.

So hey kids, I am off to the golf course.  Time to work on my swing and loosen my shoulders up.  I got me some digging to do on Monday.  Yep, looks like the die off starts then.  Come on back will ya, I could use some help tossing dirt on some bodies!
