KIRKLAND LAKE, Ont. – Marc Audet stopped all 17 shots he faced for his second shutout of the season as the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners blanked the French River Rapids 4-2 Friday in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Joe Mavrinac Community Complex.
The only goal Kirkland Lake would need on this night came 10:48 into the opening period as Dalton Anderson finished off the work of Jamey Lauzon and Joel Fortin.
A pair of second stanza tallies upped the Gold Miners lead to 3-0 after 40 minutes with Brandon Wolfe and Brayden Stortz both finding the back of the net in the session.
An unassisted effort courtesy of Logan Fredericks midway through the final frame capped off the night’s scoring for Kirkland Lake.
Jesse Houlton dished out a pair of assists to aid the Gold Miners cause.
Shots on goal in the contest favoured the winning side 26-17 with Audet earning the win and Chad Mosley the loss.
