IROQUOIS FALLS, Ont. – Jamey Lauzon scored three times while Brayden Stortz doled out four assists Friday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at Jus Jordan Arena as the visiting Kirkland Lake Gold Miners crowned the Iroquois Falls Eskis 8-1.

Lauzon got the Gold Miners going with his first of the night at 16:37 of the opening period.

Kirkland Lake added another with just 23 seconds left in the stanza as Sam Oden notched his first NOJHL goal.

The Gold Miners kept coming in the middle session tacking on three more tallies with Lauzon, Arthur’s Miller’s initial league marker and Marc-Antoine Arseneau all finding the back of the net.

A Logan Fredericks power play effort made it 6-0 at 6:11 of the third while Joel Fortin added to the lead less than a minute later.

Iroquois Falls would dash Tyler Mazzocato’s shutout bid with 11:40 left as David Osborne scored his team-leading 14th of the campaign.

Lauzon then finished off his hat trick at 15:33 rounding out the night’s scoring.

Blake Anderson and Dylan Holt chipped in with two assists apiece for the Miners.

Mazzocato finished up with 25 saves in securing the win for Kirkland Lake while Josh Horner was peppered with 60 shots in defeat for the Eskis.
