Eskis win 2nd straight by topping Rock

TIMMINS, Ont. – The Iroquois Falls Eskis capped off a road trip by getting two goals and an assist from Jacob Erwin to help them defeat the Timmins Rock 6-3 Sunday afternoon in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League matinee at McIntyre Arena.

Timmins got on the board first with the lone marker in the opening frame as Andrew Green collected his first of the season at 4:03.

Erwin then notched the tying effort early in the second only to see the Rock’s Brennan McGuire also pick-up his initial tally at 9:01.

Iroquois Falls came back once again thanks to Erwin as he tied it at 2-2 with a man advantage effort at 17:34 as he buried his 20th for the Eskis in 2015-16.

In the third, Dante Juris gave the visitors the first lead nine minutes into the third.

Timmins came back to knot the affair again just 27 seconds later courtesy of Andrew Castagna, but the Eskis countered that a mere 16 seconds after that as David Stickney supplied the eventual game-winner.

Iroquois Falls then capped off the triumph picking up a pair of empty netters on Osborne’s 25th overall and another by Juris to round out the scoring.

Tanner Bowditch and Blake Holowaty had two assists each for the Eskis in the win.

Matthew Camilleri was named as the starter on the game sheet for Iroquois Falls, but left after just 34 seconds after making one save in favour of Joe Sheppard, who went the rest of the way making 36 shots in earning the win.

Devon Debastos faced 31 attempts in defeat for Timmins.
