SAT Changes For NCAA Bound Players – Important Information For Parents, Players And Teams

NCAA guidelines and standards for admission are a continually changing thing.  Parents and players can not be expected to keep up with all of them.  After all, you already have full time occupations.

As a community service, Hockey Talent Management would like to make you aware of a recent notice received from the NCAA concerning SAT changes;

If a student takes the current SAT before March 2016 and then takes the redesigned SAT at a later date, the NCAA Eligibility Center will not combine section scores from the current and redesigned SAT when determining a student’s initial eligibility. The NCAA Eligibility Center will only combine section scores from the same version of the test. Because the redesigned SAT varies in design and measures different academic concepts than the current SAT, a numerical score on the current test may not be equivalent to the same numerical score on the redesigned test. Students should use recipient code 9999 when sending scores to the NCAA Eligibility Center.

Additional information on changes to the SAT can be found here.”

Previously a combined score could be used for those incoming student athletes that would give a greater score when applying for admissions.

That is no longer the case with the new SAT coming in March

Hockey Talent Management would suggest to all players and parents interested in playing NCAA hockey, that you meet with your High School Guidance Counselor to make sure that your individual plan is taking these new changes into account when applying to schools
