The Death Pool – Special Report – Big Ten Withdraws NCAA Age Limit Proposal

Oh hell yeah kids, I love when stuff just comes together like it should.  Even better when some bullies on the block get punched in the mouth by the little guy who has had enough.

It looks like the Big Ten is “withdrawing” their proposal to penalize players who take longer to develop in junior hockey.

Yeah, better withdraw it now boys before you lose the vote in a very public and embarrassing way.  Yep, got to love the politics and image preservation tactics here.  Easier to “withdraw” in order to discuss it further than to get your ass handed to you off the ice as much as it was handed to you on the ice this season.

The move came as the NCAA’s Legislative Council was meeting yesterday and today in Indi as part of its regularly scheduled meetings.

You think the straw pol vote against them at 49 to 11 had anything to do with it?  Or maybe the recent loss of support in the Legislative Committee had something to do with it?  Nahhhhhh I am sure it was just them wanting to “withdraw” the idea after considering it.

So, this likely ends the discussion.  I say likely, because the idea could always be brought back to the table.  However, given the NCAA desire to expand college hockey, its unlikely it will be.  No sense in limiting the player pool because a few people don’t want to swim in the deep end.

Now, I wonder how many older players Big Ten teams will start committing to.  You know, if you cant beat them, join them.
