In what is being seen as a long over due move, the Ontario Hockey Association, brought all eight Junior C hockey leagues in the Province under one league heading.
The newly formed Provincial Junior Hockey League takes in all eight Junior C circuits, even reaching out to the Western Junior C division.
The move creates better standards in many area’s. Most important will be a standardization of overtime rules and playoffs.
To understand how great an undertaking this has been, the committee began working on this project two years ago. Getting eight different leagues to sit at the table while representing sixty five teams is no small accomplishment in itself.
In the end, smart people made a smart hockey decision. A sound decision that will benefit players, and teams alike. It aligns the interests of the teams with those of the fans and the players.
