For the last two seasons TJHN has been publishing monthly rankings that combined the Canadian Junior Hockey Leagues and the North American Hockey League.
This season, our rankings will consider the Western States Hockey League in those rankings as well. While some may comment that the WSHL gave itself a Tier II ranking in its first season, and should not be included, we disagree.
The WSHL demonstrated that the level of play among its top teams was clearly equal to, or better than teams already considered in the combined rankings.
The WSHL also demonstrated with its NCAA D-1, D-3 and ACHA commitments that it can move and develop players at a higher rate than some teams already considered in the combined rankings.
This will, as it has for the last two seasons, be a monthly ranking. Rankings from week to week do not adequately account for trades, new signings, injuries and other items impacting the on ice product.
Our first edition will appear on Wednesday, October 12, 2016. Our second edition will appear on Wednesday November 2, 2016. Then appear monthly on the first Wednesday through the conclusion of the season.
We hope this series of rankings once again promotes a healthy discussion.
