TIMMINS, Ont. – The Timmins Rock trio of Jordan Rendle, Bain Cunningham and Alexandre Brisson combined for seven goals to help them blast the Soo Eagles 9-1 in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play Saturday at McIntyre Arena.
Rendle started things off for Timmins in quick order as he collected his first of the night just 47 seconds after the opening face-off.
He then added another at 18:16 of the frame to put the home side up by a pair after 20 minutes.
The Rock would break it open in the middle session as they tacked on five more markers for go up by seven following two periods of play.
After Wayne Mathie made it 3-0 3:39 into the second, Rendle finished off a hat trick just over two minutes later.
The onslaught continued with Brisson notching his two tallies on the night sandwiched around one by Cunningham.
It was more Rock in the third with Spencer Sequi picking up his first NOJHL goal at 6:49 while Cunningham supplied his second of the evening 45 seconds later.
The Eagles picked up their lone marker with 11:21 to go to spoil the shutout bid of Timmins netminder Caleb Barris courtesy of a William Casey effort to round out the night’s scoring.
Rock rookie Marcus Blackned dished out two assists to aid in the winner’s cause.
Barris finished with 32 stops on the night in picking up the win.
Justyn Gillis and Jack Deines both saw time in goal in defeat for Sault Ste. Marie as the duo combined to face 37 attempts in the setback.
