New Tier III Junior Hockey League May 17, 2012 8:23 AM

Over recent weeks, a movement to form a new Tier III league under AAU sanctioning has been underway.

Former Great Lakes Junior League owners, teams, staff and new owners have gotten together to assemble what is expected to be an eight to ten team league for the 2012-2013 season.

Included in the league are the Kankakee Kingfish, Toledo, Cleveland, Traverse City, Sault Ste. Marie, and several teams from the Metro Detroit area. With an abundance of players and arenas available in Detroit the league will seek to obtain additional Michigan markets in the future.

TJHN has learned that the league may choose the name of the Michigan Junior Hockey League or something to that effect. League insiders have contacted TJHN stating that an official release will be made shortly.
