Providence College Dismisses Three Players May 17, 2012 8:24 AM

Defensemen Barrett Kaib and Craig Wyszomirski and winger Billy Simon are no longer members of the Providence College hockey team.

Kaib, who was headed into his sophomore season, was dismissed from the team, according to TJHN sources.

Wyszomirski, who would have been a sophomore next season, and Simon, who would have been a senior, left voluntarily before having to be dismissed.

Wyszomirski played in just four games as a freshman. He has a year of junior eligibility left. A native of Mahwah, N.J., he was rostered with the Jersey Hitmen at last weekend’s Eastern Junior Hockey League Spring Showcase in Marlboro, Mass. Sources withing the EJHL have Wyszomirski returning to the Hitmen for the 2012-2013 season.

Billy Simon will be transfering to Wisconsin-River Falls, a Division III school. According to NCAA rules Simon should be eligible to play for Wisconsin this season.

Replacements are on the way in players Mark Jankowski and John Gilmore.

Jankowski is a 6-foot-3, 175-pound forward who played at Stanstead College Prep High School in Quebec. Jankowsi is rated among the top-43 North American skaters eligible for 2012 NHL Draft by NHL Central Scouting. The 2012 NHL Draft will be held on June 22-23 in Pittsburgh, Pa. During his senior season in which he helped his team to a school record 39 wins, Jankowski recorded 53 goals, 40 assists and 93 points in 57 games.

Gilmour, a 5-foot-11, 170-pound defenseman, totaled 24 points (10 g, 14 a) in 58 games while playing for the Cedar Rapids Roughriders of the United States Hockey League. In just his third game at Cedar Rapids, he recorded one goal and one assist to lead his team to a win versus Sioux City. Gilmour also recorded a two-goal game in a victory over rival Dubuque.
