Eskimos cool off Crunch

COCHRANE – The Abitibi Eskimos trio of Brady Clouthier, Tristan Salesse and Jake Holland combined for nine points as the Abitibi Eskimos defeated the Cochrane Crunch 5-2 Friday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

The Abitibi threesome were quick to strike in this one as Holland and Clouthier combined to set-up Salesse 45 seconds after the opening face-off.

Cochrane drew level eight minutes later as Dustin Cordeiro fired home his 32nd goal of the season, which further extended a career single-season high in tallies.

The Eskimos countered that with a pair of quick markers 25 seconds apart off the sticks of Cosimo Amore and Holland.

Abitibi built their lead to four early in the middle stanza were goals one shift apart thanks to Clouthier and Levis, which spelled the end of Cochrane starter Brett Young’s night in favour of Ben Auger.

Cochrane would get one in the late going from Jason Berube to draw within three, in what turned out to be the final goal of the evening

Eskimos goaltender Logan Ferrington was solid between the pipes and was well deserving of the victory as he stopped 56 of 58 shots fired his way.

Young was saddled with the loss allowing five against on 16 attempts with Auger turning aside all 22 pucks he faced in relief.
