Lincoln Stars Player Thomas Carey Makes First Court Appearance

Lincoln Stars player Thomas Carey stood before a judge in Minnesota for the first time Thursday, after being charged with videotaping himself having sex with an underage girl, and sharing the video.

Charged with three felonies and facing a maximum sentence that could carry as much as ten years, Carey was released without having to post bond.  Co-defendant Brandon Smith will not make his first court appearance until July 29th.

Carey is charged with using a minor in a sexual performance, possession of child pornography and distributing child pornography

Carey’s attorney Bruce Quick stated that his client will defend himself against these allegations vigorously and:

“If you look closely at the statement of probable cause, which was filed with the charging documents, you’ll note what charges the case has not brought and you’re going to ask yourself why that was. And I think if you look at the remaining charges, the evidence will be pretty clear that the law that was drafted for those allegations did not intend to apply to these facts”

Carey is due back in court on August 11th.
