NCAA outdoor games in Chicago July 10, 2012 8:14 AM
The city of Chicago has already seen outdoor hockey thanks to the Winter Classic at Wrigley Field. The Blackhawks and Red Wings took their long time rivaly to the snow and cold and put on a fantastic show.
It went so well that outdoor hockey is coming back to Chicago.
Soldier Field, home of the NFL’s Bears, will play host to two NCAA games next February. One matchup will feature the Notre Dame Fighting Irish taking on the Miami RedHawks. The second will have the Minnesota Gophers battling the Wisconsin Badgers. Two games that college hockey fans should be lining up to see.
The NHL will be playing this years Winter Classic at the University of Michigan.
No official date or broadcast arrangements have been announced. A spokeswoman for Intersport, the company promoting the event, said the details will emerge at a 2 p.m. news conference Wednesday at Soldier Field.
