Week of Oct. 22
Games of Oct. 15-21
Forward: Tyler Dale, Boston Jr. Rangers
The Boston Jr. Rangers saw some close games in New Jersey and emerged with one victory from their first NCDC Showcase Series event. Tyler Dale (‘04/Pewaukee, Wis.) scored a 2-2-4 line against the Rockets Hockey Club in their Thursday 6-4 loss, chiming in on all the Jr. Rangers offense there. He also scored the GWG in their Oct. 19 3-1 win against the West Chester Wolves. In eight games, Dale leads the Jr. Rangers offensively with a 5-6-11 line.
Defense: Jason Zaccari, South Shore Kings
Zaccari (‘05/Santa Ana, Calif.) has lately been a staple in this spot, winning three of the last four weeks. He registered five assists in just the two Hitmen Classic games that the Kings played, both standing as wins that extended their winning streak to nine games since falling in their Sept. 19 opener. Zaccari is second among all NCDC defensemen in scoring with 13 points.
Goaltender: Paul Dalessio, Northern Cyclones
The Cyclones got a 42-save performance from Dalessio (‘05/Burlington, Mass.) as he helped the Cyclones defeat the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights, 6-1, on Oct. 17. Dalessio is undefeated in regulation this year so far, and has only surrendered four goals – and never more than one in any game – in five appearances. That includes giving up zero goals on 16 shots in a relief appearance on Oct. 18 against the P.A.L. Jr. Islanders.
Rookie: Stephen Chen, Boston Jr. Rangers
Chen (‘05/Beijing, China) made 91 saves on 96 shots for a .948 save percentage in the Hitmen Classic. That included 49 saves on 50 shots in a 3-1 victory against the West Chester Wolves to close their Classic run on Saturday, Oct. 19. Chen, who made his first two appearances for the Rangers this season in Wayne, N.J., previously played in the Tier 1 Hockey Federation for the Mercer Chiefs 18U AAA program.
Selection Process: Team coaches first nominate players, the League sends back finalists, and coaches are then able to further vote on finalists or nominate other players.
