COCHRANE – The Sudbury Nickel Barons got goal from four different players and a 37-save effort courtesy of Jessie Morin to defeat the Cochrane Crunch 4-1 Friday in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League match-up at the Tim Horton Event Centre.
For a second consecutive game Jimmy Roy got Sudbury on the board first as he fired home his 14th of the campaign with 7:43 to go in the opening frame as he converted on the power play.
Cochrane countered with a man advantage effort of their own, with 99 seconds left in the stanza, as Cody Gratton blasted home his league-leading 43rd goal of the season.
The Nickel Barons potted the eventual game-winner with the lone tally of the middle frame thanks to a Brett Whitehead effort at 12:46.
Sudbury then put the game away in the third tacking one two more from Dylan Callaghan and Ryan Theriault to round out the scoring.
As Morin earned the win in net for the visitors, Brett Young faced 42 shots in defeat for the Crunch.
