Chicago Steel goaltender has earned 13 victories this season
The United States Hockey announced that Chicago Steel goaltender Alex Sakellaropoulos has been added to the lineup for the 2013 USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game presented by CCM on January 23rd in Muskegon, Michigan.
The goaltender joins Team East to replace Dubuque Fighting Saints goaltender Arthur Brey who will miss the game due to injury.
Sakellaropoulos has appeared in 30 games this season for the Steel and earned 13 of their 14 wins. He has posted a 3.27 goals-against-average and his .908 save percentage is currently the eighth best mark in the USHL. The 6-2, 220-pound netminder is a native of Tinley Park, Illinois and is in his second USHL season. The 18-year-old has appeared in 55 career games in the League and collected 21 victories.
It is the second season for the USHL/NHL Top Prospects Game which will showcase many of the top players in the USHL who are eligible for the 2013 NHL Draft as they compete in front of scouts and personnel from NHL clubs. Players chosen for the event were based on a selection process that included input of the 16 USHL General Managers, NHL Central Scouting, and NHL team scouts and decision makers.
