Soo Eagles swamp Blind River

BLIND RIVER, Ont. – The Soo Eagles saw Reed Gregory score four times while Evan Ketner and Gord Helmuth also supply hat tricks as they swamped the Blind River Beavers 17-3 Sunday afternoon in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League play at the Blind River Community Centre.

Visiting Sault Ste. Marie took control early grabbing a 5-0 lead after one period of play on singles supplied by Nate Harris, Landon Hubbard, Gregory, Ketner and Helmuth.

The Eagles kept coming in the middle frame outscoring the Beavers 6-1 in the session.

Gregory, Ketner, Hubbard, Helmuth, Bradley Hoflich and Jake Saxton all found the back of the net for the Soo while Bryce Campbell had one for Blind River.

The onslaught continued in the final frame as the Eagles added another half dozen with Gregory and Alex Rowe notching two apiece with Helmuth and Levi Rowan adding the others.

Max Khull and Alex Kidd picked up the other two tallies for the home side.

Jack Deines made 23 saves to pick-up the win for the Eagles.

Martin Miloslavich and Matt Blattenberger both saw time in goal for Blind River in defeat facing 57 shots along the way.
