Stampede Name Head Coach to Lead the 2013-14 Campaign!

Cheyenne, WY– The Cheyenne Stampede hockey club are proud to announce the addition of Gary Gill to the coaching staff. Gill will be joining the Stampede organization as the Head Coach for the 2013-2014 season.

A native of Aston, Pa Gill brings a wealth of professional experience to the Stampede. He spent the 2011-2012 season with the Mississippi River Kings of the Southern Professional Hockey League (SPHL). “We are ecstatic to have Coach Gill take over the Head Coaching duties” says General Manager Mark Lantz. “Coach Gill comes from an extensive hockey background with a great track record coaching juniors, collegiately and professionally.”

Gill’s professional experience is expansive, he was head coach of the Rome Frenzy of the Federal Hockey League, an assistant coach/ video analyst for the Reading Royals of the ECHL and the head coach of the Penn State University (Berks Campus) ice hockey club.

Gill started at Penn State University in 2006 as the assistant coach of their ACHA Div III team. While in role he grew the program to include a Div I and III squad. He was promoted to head coach and during his tenure had a record of 55-8.

“Gary will be looked upon to add many new elements to the Stampede’s already exciting brand of hockey. “Coach Gill brings such a wealth of hockey knowledge, systems, and team protocols to the Stampede, you can probably already Hear the Rumble” said GM Mark Lantz.

With experience coaching at the ECHL, CHL, SPHL, FHL and collegiate levels, Gill is primed for success with the Stampede this season and will be hitting the recruiting trail immediately before moving his family to Wyoming.
