Thanksgiving Tragedy Strikes Texas Hockey Family

While many of you may be aware that TJHN competes with Junior Hockey dot com, in times like these, the whole Junior Hockey community needs to come together.  I would like to thank Stephen Heisler for making me aware of this situation and offering that we can reprint this story.

The Stryker family was doing what many hockey families do on a long holiday weekend, travelling to a youth hockey tournament. This family had a set of twin boys and was on their way to the Silver Stick Regional event in Las, Vegas, Nevada.  The family van collided head-on with a car on a highway in a remote area of northern Arizona. Three members of the Dallas area family were killed.

Arizona Department of Public Safety identified those killed as 60 year-old Rebecca Simpson Stryker, 56 year-old James Lee Stryker, and 16 year-old Travis Stryker.

The twin brother, 16 year-old Austin Stryker, was seriously injured and hospitalized in Flagstaff.

The car had crossed the center line and first collieded with a second car before hitting the Strykers’ van.

The Dallas Junior Hockey Association has established a fund to help support the remaining family members. All proceeds go directly to Austin and Stephanie Stryker to cover costs related to the accident and their future needs.

I’m asking you all to please give whatever you can. This is an unusual request that should not be taken lightly. These kids need us.

Thank You.
