The Death Pool – Tier III Casualties

Hey kids, guess what time it is?  Yep, you guessed it, its the annual Tier III count down to franchise deaths!  Are we all excited or what?!

So, first up we got the Northern States Hockey Leagues Central New York Stallions.  After the newly minted organization hired a head coach, and then he left after finding no recruiting budget, the Stallions are now off the schedule and off the league site.

Next up is actually a twofer, yep two for one.  The Western States Hockey League looks to have lost the Dallas Icejets and the never actually announced but previously scheduled Texas Attack.  Both teams were supposed to play out of the same arena, but the arena is officially closing its doors on September 6th.

Other WSHL reports have at least a few other teams struggling to fill rosters as well.  I wonder when that official league schedule will come out anyway?

Now, don’t think I am picking on AAU teams here.  There is plenty to go around in USA Hockey sanctioned leagues as well.

Multiple sources a reporting that at least one Minnesota Junior Hockey League team will not be returning for the 2014-2015 season.  Reports have as many as three teams that could not take the ice right now if the season started tomorrow.  Yep, you just cant argue with such well run organizations!  That’s if by well run you are comparing them to lemonade stands! HA HA HA

Awwwww snap.  Lets not forget the NA3HL now.  Yep that’s right kids, there looks to be a few teams on the ropes here too.  I know its hard to believe, but at least three teams are said to be having a hard time recruiting.

While nothing is official in either of those leagues, teams waiting for those import players and NAHL cuts may not be seeing them this year.  The CIHL and CIJHL, new kids on the block for AAU sure haven’t been sitting on their asses when it comes to recruiting.

Player shortage?  What player shortage? LMAO  Nahhhhhh no such thing as a player shortage at Tier III.  Like the teams from last year that couldn’t fill a roster weren’t a good enough example or fore warning enough?  Of course not, we still got to collect those franchise fee’s right boys?  Never be accused of letting anyone else’s failure be a warning of what may come.

Oh yeah, and lets not forget a few new Tier II teams in Canada this year that have done a great job recruiting.  Keep the Canadian kids home, bring in some more American blood and you have a recipe for a full roster.  Yep, less expensive to play, a higher level, and great coaching sure can make things happen for the new kids.

I wonder who thinks the massive expansion in Tier III was a good idea now! HA HA HA
