USPHL Elite Players Of The Week: Atlantic, New England and Midwest Divisions

New England Division 

Forward: Rhett Micallef, Islanders Hockey Club 

Micallef (‘07/Onsted, Mich.) is on a three-game points streak to begin December, helping the Islanders win their two games last week with four goals and one assist. The rookie has played 21 games this season and has 16 total points with 10 goals and six assists. 

 

Defense: Brady Dunn, Islanders Hockey Club 

Dunn (‘05/Pittsburgh, Penn.) is on a four-game points streak, posting three assists over the Islanders’ two games last week. Dunn has 17 total points in his rookie season, with 17 games played so far. 

 

Goaltender: Tagger Tamburo, Islanders Hockey Club 

Tamburo (‘04/Phoenix, Ariz.) won his game for the Islanders on Dec. 6, with 26 saves on 27 shots for a .962 save percentage. Tamburo is 5-0-0-0 in his second season with the Islanders, with 27 career games and a .926 career save percentage. 

 

Atlantic Division

Forward: Lucius Wagner, Elmira Impact 

Wagner (‘06/Wagner, N.Y.) scored two goals and posted three assists to help Elmira win two games last week, including the game winning goal on Dec. 7. The rookie has 19 points (six goals; 16 assists) in 17 games played in his first Elite season.

 

Defense: Kyle Kanzinger, Wilkes-Barre Scranton Knights 

Kanzinger (‘08/Bala Cynwyd, Penn.) made his Elite Conference debut with the Knights to help them win both games last week, scoring two goals and registering two assists. Kanzinger was called up to the Elite squad from the Knights’ 16U AYHL team. 

 

Goaltender: Felix Olesen, Elmira Impact 

Olesen (‘04/Haslen, Switzerland) has 32 saves on 33 shots for a .970 save percentage and win for the Elmira Impact on Dec. 8. Olesen is 2-0-0-0 in his rookie Elite season with a .941 season save percentage so far. 

Midwest Division

Forward: Mikey Large, Chicago Crush 

Large (‘06) is on a four-game points streak to begin December with the Chicago Crush, posting two goals and five assists for three games last week. He has 21 points across 19 games, including seven goals in his first Elite season. 

 

Defense: Erik Koller, Chicago Crush 

Koller (‘05) posted four assists for the Chicago Crush last week, helping the team continue December with a five-game win streak. In his rookie Elite season, Koller has 10 points across 20 games played. 

 

Goaltender: Kristofer Hatch, Metro Jets 

Hatch (‘06, Huntsville, Ala.) went 2-0 in games for the Metro Jets last week, making 54 saves on 57 shots for a .947 save percentage and 1.50 goals against average. Hatch has a .909 save percentage in his second season with the Metro Jets across 11 games so far this year.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
