USPHL Elite Players Of The Week: South Region

Games played Dec. 3-9

Southeast Division 

Forward: Viktor Pettersson, Charlotte Rush 

Pettersson (‘05) was a key player for the Charlotte Rush this week, scoring the game winning goal on Dec. 7 and scoring another goal on Dec. 8. In his second Elite season, Pettersson has played 17 games and posted 22 points (8 goals; 14 assists).

 

Defense: Colin Browning, Carolina Junior Hurricanes 

Browning (‘04/Huntingtown, Md.) posted two assists for the Carolina Junior Hurricanes last week. The blueliner has played nine games in his second Elite season, with 44 career games and seven points under his belt. 

 

Goaltender: Janic Kennedy, Hampton Roads Whalers 

Kennedy (‘04/Mission Viejo, Calif.) was standout goalie last week, posting two shutouts for the Hampton Roads Whalers to go 1-0-0-1 with 49 total saves. He has a .950 save percentage in his second season with the Whalers. He has seven career shutouts to his name and five this season, the most of any Elite goalie for 2024-25 so far. 

Florida Division 

Forward: Jan Zeman, Tampa Bay Juniors 

Zeman (‘06/Tampa, Fla.) went on a three-game points streak with the Tampa Bay Juniors last week, registering four goals and three assists. He has 20 points across 19 games in his second season in the Elite Conference, with 56 career games played. 

 

Defense: Carter Trussler, Tampa Bay Juniors 

Trussler (‘06/Land O Lakes, Fla.) is one game shy of his centennial appearance with the Tampa Bay Juniors, and continues to make big impacts on the ice. Last week he posted one goal and three assists over three games to help the team win 3-0. Trussler has 60 career points over three seasons in the Elite league. 

 

Goaltender: Blake Moore, Florida Jr. Blades 

Moore (‘06/Harker Heights, Tx.) posted a .949 save percentage on Dec. 8, conceding only two goals for 37 of 39 saves. The rookie has played 11 games with the Florida Jr. Blades and is 5-4-0-0 in his first season.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to vote on the leaders, or nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
