USPHL Players Of The Week: New England, Atlantic and Midwest Divisions

Week of Oct. 24, 2024

Games of Oct. 15-21, 2024

New England Division

Forward: Daniel Mordas, Springfield Pics

The 2007-born Lithuanian keeps putting up points after his move from defense to forward, recently racking up three goals and an assist for four points. He has 16 points on the season, which ranks eighth in the Elite.

Defense: Thatcher Berman, Springfield Pics

Third-year Pic Berman (‘06/Blandford, Mass.) scored a hat trick in his 2024-25 debut on Oct. 19, his first hat trick of his junior career.

Goaltender: Gavin Carpenter, Springfield Pics

Carpenter (‘07/South Hadley, Mass.) stopped 41 of the 44 shots he faced from the South Shore Kings in an OT win on Oct. 19, giving him his first junior win and a .922 overall save percentage. Carpenter is, like Berman, an alum of the deep Pics Midget program.

Atlantic Division

Forward: Timofei Korober, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

In an Oct. 19 game, Korober (‘08/St. Petersburg, Russia) put up a 2-4-6 performance in a single outing. He currently has 17 points in his first eight North American games in the Elite, and he also has two points in four Premier games.

Defense: Max Murphy, Elmira Impact

Murphy (‘08/Prince Albert, Sask.) put up three assists in a pair of games against the Hershey Cubs, his first three junior points coming out of the Prince Albert Renegades.

Goaltender: Anthony Shaw, Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Knights

Shaw (‘06/Wilkes, Pa.) stopped all 27 shots he faced against the Hershey Cubs on Oct. 18, giving him his first junior shutout. Shaw joined the Knights from the WBSK 18U AAA program.

Midwest Division

Forward: Mikey Large, Chicago Crush

Large (‘06/Park Ridge, Ill.) culled together a goal – his first in junior hockey – and three assists for four points during his most recent action against Decatur Blaze, improving to six points on the season.

Defense: Caleb Lindley, Decatur Blaze

A 2006-born blueliner, Lindley had a 1-3-4 line during the Blaze’s series against the Crush. His goal, like that of Large, was his first in junior hockey after he came to the Blaze from the St. Louis Sting organization. He has a 1-5-6 line in seven games.

Goaltender: Cameron Cyrus, Metro Jets

Cyrus (‘06/Leonard, Mich.), an alum of the nearby Romeo High School, stopped all 37 shots he faced from the Fort Wayne Spacemen in a 1-0 victory on Oct. 20, giving him his first junior shutout.

Selection Process: Divisional statistical leaders are presented to coaches, who are able to nominate and vote on alternate candidates.
