Viele stymies Texas, Topeka wins 4-1

Spencer Viele had a standout game with 27 saves, and the Topeka RoadRunners beat the Texas Tornado 4-1.

 

Topeka’s penalty kill excelled, as the RoadRunners gave up one goal despite allowing six power plays.

Topeka was paced by Drew Kariofiles, who finished with one goal and one assist. Kariofiles scored 6:55 into the second period to make the score 2-0 Topeka. Michael Covach provided the assist.

The RoadRunners put 29 shots on net during the contest, more than the 23.5 they average per game.

Topeka also got a goal from Brogan Rafferty as well. More assists for Topeka came via Jake Kamrass, Sean Gaffney, and Kyle Sharkey, who contributed one a piece.

Texas excelled on the penalty kill, not giving up a single goal in four chances. The Tornado’s offense operated below they season average. Texas puts an average of 3.7 pucks into the net per game.

The Tornado were led by CJ Reuschlein, who took three shots.

Topeka incurred 16 minutes in penalty time with eight minors. Aaron Davis recorded 25 saves for Texas. The Tornado incurred 12 minutes in penalty time with six minors.
