Warriors rearguard Zarazun headed to Mt. Royal

The West Kelowna Warriors are pleased to announce graduated defenceman Brett Zarazun has committed to Mount Royal University of the CIS for the 2013-14 season.

The 6-foot-2 defender put up three goals, and 15 assists, in 54 games with the Warriors this past year.  He also added one assist in 10 playoff games.

“Brett played a huge role on our team last year,” said Warriors Head Coach/GM Rylan Ferster. “He played against other teams top lines all year, and was an outstanding penalty killer.”

“His ability to move pucks away from pressure was fantastic. You really have to watch him day in and day out to appreciate what he can bring to the table.”

The Mount Royal University Cougars athletic program is part of the Canada West Universities Athletic Association (CWUAA), the most decorated of the four conferences in Canadian Interuniversity Sport (CIS).

Zarazun is the 13th player off last year’s roster to secure a scholarship to further his academic and hockey career. (11 Division 1 NCAA, 2 CIS)
