Bellingham Blazers took the first two games of the series over their Northwest Division rival, Southern Oregon Spartans, who managed to avoid a sweep with a high-scoring effort in Game 3. While the Blazers reached the dominant win in Game 1, the Spartans were able to turn it around in the latter two games, keeping the deficit to just one goal.
Milo Schneidmiller was lethal for Bellingham scoring a total of five goals and dishing out four assists to gain nine points over the weekend. He had multiple points in each of his games, including a four-point outing in Game 3. Ian Ball also managed 2G-2A in Game 3.
Alexander Andrews gave Southern Oregon its first win since Showcase, and snapped an eight game losing streak, when he scored in the shootout of Game 3. Andrews also had the opening goal of the game, which gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead at 18:36 of the first period. Despite conceding five-straight goals in the game, the Spartans were able to recover as Andrew Rothmeier sent the game to overtime with a goal at 9:31 of the third.
Southern Oregon had the first goal in all three games but it was the Blazers who opted for the overtime game-winner in Game 2. Seth Hebert scored his second goal of the weekend to give Bellingham the edge at 3:52 of OT.

Sobe Arena saw its first game since mid-December, right before the Showcase, and the faithful was treated to a pair of ever-important Western Division wins—though Vegas failed to sweep with a loss on Sunday. Thunderbirds widen their divisional lead over Ontario to 14-points.
Ontario wasn’t to be taken lightly and the Thunderbirds understood that requiring a shootout effort in Game 1. Joseph Wheeler won it for Las Vegas who saw its lead slip late in the third period.
In Game 2, the Avs got started with an initial lead after Kai Maunula opened the scoring at 16:13 of the second period. The Thunderbirds didn’t wait too long for a response scoring just over five minutes later as Joseph Terrana and Mikhail Gerasin both connected to steal the win in the third.
Ontario could scathe away with a single victory over the weekend; mainly due to Gabel Longshore who carried the team with a hat trick in the third period of Game 3. Liam Massie had the game-winning contribution burying the dagger.
The Avalanche were down 3-0 as the T-Birds gained the 2-0 lead in the first frame, and Austen Kerridge pushed it to 3-0 early in the second. Ontario connected on five straight tallies from 11:41 of the second to about 22 seconds left in the game to redeem themselves in one fell swoop.
FRESNO MONSTERS VS. VALENCIA FLYERS

The Fresno Monsters are up to four wins in a row, and force the Valencia Flyer’s losing streak to 12 straight games with the weekend sweep. Monsters score 36 goals in three games and keep its first place Western Division spot. Zackory Turpin and William Marksted had two hat tricks each.
Fresno forced a 4-0 lead in the first period of Game 1, before the Flyers could answer with a power play goal to close out the period. Valencia was able to get five past Jayden Pasillas through out the entire tilt, but never really posed a threat as their goals often followed a slew of goals from the Monsters.
Ultimately, it was another string of tallies that buried the Flyers, five straight in the third to be exact. Jon Tagoona, William Markstedt, and Tristan Baker each score hat tricks, while Bjorn Gabrielsson registered five points.
In Game 2, Zackory Turpin had himself an eight-point night to oust Valencia with four goals and four assists; Narek Aleksanyan registered five assists and two goals for seven points.
Another three players in Bjorn Gabrielsson, Turpin, and Markstedt scored hat tricks in Game 3 as they duplicated Saturday’s scored.
OKLAHOMA CITY BLAZERS VS. UTAH OUTLIERS

Oklahoma City suffered its first sweep at home all season as the Outliers pick up eight points on the road, move to five consecutive wins. The Blazers are now well into their largest winless streak with a six game skid as of Sunday.
Xavier Erickson shined with four goals in two games and Oscar Wahlgren earned three straight victories with a total of 72 saves, including his league-leading eighth shutout in Game 2.
Utah came knocking with an opening goal in Game 1, but then let the lead slip as the Blazers scored back-to-back to close out the first stanza. Utah was held off the scoreboard for the majority of the second period, until they ignited a four-goal response on a tally from Andrei Shmakov at 2:59.
Wahlgren stopped 26 shots in Game 2 and won the affair for the Outliers who scored in the first and second period on goals by Shmakov and Nash Hatcher.
Game 3 proved to be a thriller especially with the seven lead changes. Utah had 1-0, 3-2, and 5-4 leads, plus the final 6-5 score that gave them the sweep. Helvis Rudzajs scored the overtime game-winner at 3:20 making the Outliers eclipse 70-points in the season.

San Diego completed a surprise road sweep of the Northwest Division’s, Seattle Totems. After defeating Ogden at Olympicview in their last home series, the Totems were expecting more out of this weekend. Two goals in three games just wasn’t going to cut it against a red hot San Diego squad.
As insinuated, the Sabers are quite possibly the hottest team in the league as they have been surging and making ascending moves in the standings. Well, they squeaked by in Game 1 when two-second period goals sufficed to lift them over the Totems. Steven Brachert scored Seattle’s first goal of the weekend at 12:57 of the first making it 1-0. Then, Hunter Howe and Trevor Wittkopf made it 2-1 in favor of San Diego.
Ludwig Nordqvist made 30 saves in Game 2 to earn his eight win and third shutout of the season. Nordqvist reached his ninth win on Sunday’s Game 3 when he made 36 saves.
San Diego’s Samuel Kapusta and Quinn Patenaude made it 2-0; Joel Rothman and Hunter Howe converted on two man advantaged to make it 4-1.
The Sabers stay within three points of Western Division leaders, Fresno, and improves to 11-8-0 on the road. The Totems drop to 6-10-0 at home, and have now lost their previous five games.
NORTHERN COLORADO EAGLES VS. WICHITA JR. THUNDER

Now at six straight wins, the Eagles re-inflated an 11-point margin between them and their Colorado counterparts, Pueblo Bulls. Wichita Jr. Thunder drops to 12 losses in a row as the Eagles complete a home sweep in Greeley.
Brennan McFarland and Chuck Bay each scored a hat trick in the first two games respectively; Tanner Ames made 21 saves in Game 3 to earn his sixth win and second shutout of the 2019-2020 season.
Northern Colorado managed 3-0 leads in the first period of Games 1 & 2, with the Jr. Thunder cutting it to 4-1 on both nights as well. Although in Game 1 the Eagles ground the Jr. Thunder when they continued with seven straight unanswered goals.
HINTON TIMBERWOLVES VS. COLD LAKE HORNETS

Anson Smith surprised the Hinton Timberwolves early when he scored to give Cold Lake an initial 1-0 lead 28 seconds into the match. The Hornets were able to put doubt in the Timberwolves before, but didn’t have the same fate this time around.
Bryant Joseph led all goal scorers with a hat trick and one helper; Mario De Capite tied with four points on four assists.
Hinton’s Damon Belcourt sparked a four-goal response in the first period. Jakob Arsenault made it 2-1 before Bryant Joseph scored on two consecutive opportunities extending it to 4-1.
Wassim Saidani could chip away and cut it to 4-2 on the power play, but the Timberwolves weren’t done.
After conceding a third goal, Hinton connected three times to make it 8-3.
HINTON TIMBERWOLVES VS. EDSON AEROS

The battle for first place in the Provincial Division is leaning in favor of the Edson Aeros after their 5-1 victory at the Murray Rec. Center in Saskatchewan. Hinton is now eight points back of the Aeros who are enjoying eight straight wins as of the weekend; 15-3-0 road record.
The Timberwolves were awarded a two-man advantage as Maverick Baxtrom was assessed an interference penalty, and Hudson Guenette for high-sticking. Hinton capitalized on the special teams bid with a goal from Bryant Joseph taking the early 1-0 lead.
Mathew Rathbone and Quentin Stempfel combined with two goals each, and Niklas Froden added a fifth goal, to overwhelm the Timberwolves who rarely deal with deficits.
Hinton suffers its first loss since going down to Ogden at the Showcase, putting an end to eight consecutive victories.
EDSON AEROS VS. COLD LAKE HORNETS

The Edson Aeros remained unblemished at home reaching 15 straight wins at Repsol Place after the weekend. Niklas Froden scored five goals, and six additional players had goals for Edson. Filip Myrskog claims his seventh win, third shutout, and remains undefeated this season so far.
Froden kicked off the game with a natural hat trick in the first period giving Edson a comfortable 3-0 lead. Four different players combined in the second period to make it 7-0.
Froden found his fourth and fifth goal of the night in the third period, combining with Baxtrom and Coleman Mueller to make it 11-0. Since the Bombers were in a bye, the Hornets were able to hold onto their three-spot by two points.
