Espanola Scores New Jr. “A” Hockey Team

The Town of Espanola has sealed an agreement and officially welcomes the new Jr. “A” Hockey Team ‘Espanola Express.’  “Local ownership of ‘Espanola Express’ under the highly anticipated return to the NOJHL League  will provide  team stability and a strong sense of  loyalty to our community, says Mayor Ron Piche.  Securing a Junior “A” team means we can look forward to hosting another regional summer youth hockey school, a return to action packed Friday night hockey and more mentoring opportunities for youth hockey.

The team ownership is comprised of local residents Jason Rapcewicz, Chad Clark and Coach Tom McCarthy who along with his family plans to relocate prior to the 2015-16 hockey season.

Espanola Express is committed to taking an active role in the community, through volunteering, participating in community events, and partnering with Espanola Minor Hockey to assist in the development of local talent, says Coach McCarthy.

Coach Tom McCarthy, a retired NHL professional hockey player, played for the Minnesota North Stars and the Boston Bruins over a span of 10 years.

The Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League 2015-2016 season begins September, 2015.

All Aboard!

Thank you.
