5-point nights for Roy & Locke as Eskimos ice Crunch

IROQUOIS FALLS – Brennan Roy scored three times, including the game-winner, and doled out two assists to help pace the Abitibi Eskimos past the Cochrane Crunch 8-2 Saturday evening in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League contest at Jus Jordan Arena.

Brenden Locke and Tristan Salesse also had big nights offensively for the Eskimos amassing five and three points respectively in the victory.

Abitibi got off to a great start picking up the game’s opening goal just over a minutes into the contest courtesy of Kevin Walker.

Cochrane tied it late in the first as Dustin Cordeiro notched his 35th of the season.

Cordeiro’s second of the evening and 36th overall put the Crunch in front 7:44 into the middle frame only to see Kealey Cummings counter for the Eskimos just 18 seconds later.

Abitibi then erupted for five more markers in just over eight minutes to take full control of the match-up.

Roy and Brady Clouthier added a couple of quick man advantage efforts to make it 4-2 for the home side with Roy, Locke and Clouthier adding to the Eskimos lead before the second stanza was complete.

Roy then capped off his hat trick and five-point night at 1:51 of the third to conclude the Abitibi barrage.

Logan Ferrington finished with 39 saves to record the win for the home side.

Brett Young started for the Crunch and suffered the loss allowing all eight against on 46 shots while Ben Auguer turned aside all seven attempts he faced in 18:09 of relief.
