American Major Junior Players Denied Entry To Canada – WHL Expected To Announce Delay

Multiple reports are now coming in from American players who have tried to cross the border to join their WHL and BCHL teams and they are being denied entry into Canada.

The border remains closed to all American born players at every level according to Canadian Border Services Agency representatives in Ontario and British Columbia.

“Hockey is not an essential services item. It does not fit within the definition of any exemption.” According to CBSA officers in Windsor.

“There is no way for players to enter Canada and there is no waiver to allow them to “quarantine” and enter into Canada.”

In related news, it is now expected that the WHL will soon announce a delay to the proposed October start of their season.

Multiple sources are now reporting the WHL plans to announce a December 1, 2020 start date, matching the BCHL.
