Why Would You Pay $10,000 To Play Junior B?

Sometimes I have to shake my head in amazement. Over the last two days I have gotten multiple emails from players and parents who are being told they will have to pay around $10,000 Canadian Dollars to play on teams in the KIJHL?

No knock on the KIJHL, its a good league.

But to pay that kind of money to play in front of no fans and no scouts makes no sense.

So why is it being done? Why force the start of the season and play without fans?

Because Junior A teams are taking the Junior B players from across Canada to fill the roster holes left by American players who cant go to Canada.

Because if they start the Junior B season, those same Junior A teams will have to pay more money to acquire a player from the Junior B team if they can even get the player.

Even playing without fans could be reasonable if scouts were going to be there but they can’t go to games either.

Forget NCAA programs watching in person, and they are not going to be watching a lot of Junior B on line either.

Players and parents are customers when they pay, not cattle, its time some teams started recognizing the difference.
