Islanders Hockey Club 4, Boston Jr. Rangers 2

The Islanders Hockey Club are undefeated in regulation over their last six games (5-0-1-0). Andrey Bondarev (’04/Stockholm, Sweden) scored twice, and Braxton Powers (’04/Raleigh, N.C.) put up a goal and an assist to help the Islanders defeat the Rangers on Friday afternoon. Ean Badgett (’04/Howell, Mich.) stopped 23 of 25 shots for the win.

 

Utica Jr. Comets 4, Seacoast Spartans 3 (SO) 

The Jr. Comets won in the shootout after longtime Jr. Comet Niko Benjamin (’04/Surprise, Ariz.) scored his first shootout goal of his career to stand as the winner. The Jr. Comets made it to the shootout and overtime after Declan Stewart (’05/North Las Vegas, Nev.) scored to even it at 3-3 with 29 seconds remaining in regulation. Dylan Eliason (’04/Northville, Mich.) stopped 35 of 38 shots in 65 minutes and all three in the shootout. On the other side, Jacob Jaslow (’04/Tomkins Cove, N.Y.) stopped 47 of 50 in regulation and two of three in the shootout.

 

P.A.L. Jr. Islanders 7, Rockets Hockey Club 2

The Jr. Islanders got a first career hat trick from Tomas Smetanka (’06/Chotebor, Czechia), and he also added two assists for five points. Smetanka was a selection to the 2024 NCDC Young Guns All-Star Game. Ryan Franks (’05/Roslyn, N.Y.) scored twice, and Arthur Mirante (’04/Garden City, N.Y.)  had a goal and an assist as well. Trey Wandall (’05/Lithia, Fla.) and Aiden Holland (’05/Topsfield, Mass.) had three and two assists, respectively. Lukas Vejmelka (’04/Trebic, Czechia) had 31 saves on 33 shots.

 

Connecticut Jr. Rangers 3, Jersey Hitmen 1

The Jr. Rangers earned their fourth win of the season when they defeated the Jersey Hitmen on Friday, 3-1. Simon Semancik (’06/Poprad, Slovakia) registered the GWG and Jakub Kral (’04/Czechia) stopped 46 of 47 shots for his first NCDC victory.

 

Thunder Hockey Club 4, Boston Dogs 1

The Thunder Hockey Club defeated the Boston Dogs in the Dogs’ NCDC debut on Friday night. Taylor Casey (’05/Rutland, Vt.) and Oleg Bitus (’05/Los Angeles, Calif.) each scored a goal and an assist, while Prestyn Carter (’04/Macomb, Mich.) stopped 23 of 24 shots. Historically-speaking, Joseph Pankowski (’04/Pittsburgh,  Pa.) scored the Dogs’ first NCDC goal.

 

West Chester Wolves 4, Mercer Chiefs 0

Griffin Davis (’05/Nashua, N.H.) stopped all 27 shots he faced for his fifth straight victory and first career NCDC shutout. Sean Tyrie (’04/East Quogue, N.Y.) scored his first goal as a Wolf after being acquired earlier this month.

 

Ogden Mustangs 3, Casper Warbirds 1

The Mustangs won their third in a row to stand first overall in the Mountain Division. Brody Simko (’04/Butler, Pa.) scored a goal and an assist, and Tom Jacques (’04/Louisville, Ky.) put up two helpers. Dilans Birkans (’06/Iskile, Latvia) registered 23 saves on 24 shots. On the other side, Ryan Henry (’04/Wayne, N.J.) put up a great performance with 41 saves on 43 shots for Casper.

 

Rock Springs Grizzlies 5, Utah Outliers 2

The Grizzlies earned a big win against the Outliers, with the Grizzlies’ Kaleb Pitman (’04/Alexandria, Minn.) scoring the GWG. He also earned an assist, while Charlie Kranglin Hedberg (’04/Ovik, Sweden) also registered a 1-1-2 line. Picking up two assists apiece were Jack Williams (’06/Anchorage, Alaska), Rayne Walsh (’05/Wilmington, N.C.) and Edvin Edlund (’05/Osterlund, Sweden). Matthew MacArthur (’04/Barrington, Ill.) stopped 23 of 24 shots earned a win in his first appearance with the Grizzlies.

 

Idaho Falls Spud Kings 2, Pueblo Bulls 1 (OT) 

Timothy Kim (’04/Vancouver, B.C.) scored the overtime game-winner in his return to the Spud Kings, after playing last season as well. Also returning to the Spud Kings’ fold was D.J. MacLeish (’05/Troy, Mich.), who registered two assists on the night, giving him 52 points in 50 career games. Charlie Durkin (’06/Glencoe, Ill.) stopped 22 of 23 shots for the win, his seventh of the season.
