Forward: Matsvei Marshchanok, Pueblo Bulls
Marshchanok (‘05/Minsk, Belarus) continues to astound as he put up two goals and added two assists in a pair of wins against Casper for four more points to move up to 54 points in 40 games this year. He was also a star of the NCDC All-Stars event with four goals and five points over the two games.
Defense: Casey Contreras-Checani, Rock Springs Grizzlies
Contreras-Checani (‘06/Gilbert, Ariz.) registered a goal and added two assists for a three-point weekend against Idaho Falls. After starting the season in the NA3HL, he has advanced to the NCDC where he’s enjoyed contributing six points in nine games with Rock Springs.
Goaltender: Marcus Ouellet, Utah Outliers
Ouellet (‘04/Toronto, Ont.) stopped 59 of 60 shots in two big wins against Rock Springs and Ogden, including a 25-save shutout against Rock Springs and 34 saves on 35 shots vs. the rival Mustangs. He is now 13-8-1-3 with a .925 save percentage.
Rookie: Sammy Grimaldi, Idaho Falls Spud Kings
Grimaldi (‘05/Elk Grove Village, Ill.) registered five goals – including a hat trick against Rock Springs, and he also put up two goals the night before. He has two hat tricks in the space of a month, having first posted one on Jan. 18. He has 13 goals and 19 points in 33 games.
Selection Process: Team coaches first nominate players, the League sends back finalists, and coaches are then able to further vote on finalists or nominate other players.
