A new hockey program is taking shape in one of Europe’s most exciting cities, and the Prague Golems are ready to begin building something special for the 2027–28 season.
We are proud to introduce the Prague Golems, a program built around the combination of competitive hockey, quality university education, and the opportunity to experience life in the heart of Prague. Our vision is to create more than just a hockey team. We want to establish a culture of ambition, accountability, and opportunity, where student-athletes can develop as players, succeed academically, and prepare for their futures beyond the game.
A Name Connected to Prague’s History
The Golem is deeply rooted in Prague’s history and folklore. According to one of the city’s most famous legends, the Golem was a powerful figure formed from clay and brought to life to protect Prague’s Jewish community.
That story provides a meaningful foundation for our identity. The Prague Golems represent strength, resilience, unity, and protection—qualities that will become central to the culture and identity of our hockey program. We want our players to take pride not only in the name on the front of their jerseys, but also in the city and history they represent.
A Major Partnership with NEWTON University
A cornerstone of the Prague Golems program is our partnership with NEWTON University, creating an exciting opportunity to bring together university education and competitive college hockey.
This partnership represents an important step in expanding educational opportunities for international student-athletes who want to pursue a university degree without giving up their ambitions in hockey.
Our objective is to provide players with a pathway that extends beyond the rink. Hockey can open doors, but education creates opportunities that last long after a player’s competitive career comes to an end.
As we move toward our inaugural 2027–28 season, we look forward to sharing more information about the academic programs, student opportunities, and the vision behind this partnership.
The Prague Golems are more than a new name in European hockey. They are the beginning of a new opportunity for student-athletes looking to take their game, education, and future to the next level.
