Doug Doull Named Head Coach Of Maritimes League Crushers

New Glasgow – The Pictou County Weeks Jr A Crushers are pleased to announce that Doug Doull has been named the team’s new Head Coach and Assistant General Manager.

Doull, a 41 year-old native of Glace Bay, NS, has an extensive hockey background having played professional hockey for over nine years and having coached at various levels including the CIS, ECHL, the American Hockey League and also with Hockey Canada. Most recently, Doull was the associate coach of the Dieppe Commandos and was a big part of driving the success of their program. The Commandos won the MHL’s Kent Cup this past season.

“We are very happy to have Doug join the organization. He is a proven winner both as a player and as a coach. The experience he brings will help in the development of our players and our program” said Wade Sullivan, President of the Crushers Organization. ” We had a number of very qualified applicants to consider, but we feel that Doug is the right fit. “
Doull’s playing career including two stints in the NHL with the Washington Capitals (05-06) and the Boston Bruins (03-04). Over the course of his pro career he also played with the Arizona Coyotes, Calgary Flames and Toronto Maple Leafs organizations winning the AHL’s Calder cup in 2001 and 2006.
The Crushers also named their new General Manager. Long-time assistant coach Chad McDavid has also taken on the role as GM.  “Chad has been with the junior program since 2008 and last season was our Assistant GM. He knows the league, the players and has experience dealing with teams from across the Country.” Sullivan said.
With their staff now set, the Crushers will continue to prepare for the upcoming MHL Entry Draft which will take place June 11-13th in Campbellton, NB.
