NOJHL’s Kirkland Lake Gold Miners Sign Brandon Wolfe

Sometimes all it takes is for the right person to see you at the right time.  It was just over a month ago that scouts from the Kirkland Lake Gold Miners made their way to the annual Pre Draft Combine in Grand Rapids Michigan, and it didn’t take long for them to notice Brandon Wolfe.

The sublime skating winger made the most of every shift.  Goals, assists and hits came in bunches.

While there was no shortage of suitors for Wolfe this season, making the decision on Kirkland Lake was not a hard one to come to.

“I have heard nothing but great things about Coach Lafleur, the community, the arena, and the entire program.”  Said Wolfe “Its my last year of junior hockey.  I could have gone to an NCAA program this year, but I want to take a shot at playing Division 1, and I think that opportunity will be in Kirkland Lake.  I am exited for the season to begin and I am ready to continue to improve as a player under Coach Lafleur.”

Brandon Wolfe had multiple NCAA D-3 offers to forego his final season of junior hockey.  But feeling he had some unfinished goals to attain he has decided to wait on school, and look to develop further.

Finishing last season with the Dells Ducks, after overcoming an injury that kept him sidelined for months in the NAHL, Wolfe resumed his scoring ways.  Putting up 5 goals in 3 assists in 6 regular season games and 3 goals 4 assists in 9 playoff games on way to the MNJHL Bush Cup and a National Championship birth.

“We knew Brandon had many other options, including school.”  Said Head Coach Marc Lafleur “We were willing to wait for him to sort through those options, and are excited he is coming to our program.  He is not only a very good hockey player, but really defines what it is to be a student athlete with such great marks in school to go along with his athletic ability.”

Winning has become a tradition in Kirkland Lake since the arrival of Lafleur and the Gold Miners Ownership and Management.  Adding another player who just won a league championship, should continue that tradition.
