The Death Pool – Special Report – Player Charged With Assault After On Ice Hit From Behind

Ok kids, its Tuesday as I am writing this, and Wednesday when you read it.  But anyone who doesn’t believe the game of hockey isn’t changing, or shouldn’t change is either blind or stupid!

Its pretty clear no one wants a bunch of goons on the ice any more at any level.  Its also pretty clear that everyone wants players to respect each other by the way penalty calls are being made these days at every level.  Good stuff to clean up the game in my opinion.

Hell, some leagues are even laying on some heavy supplemental discipline for players who take cheap shots and dish out hits from behind.  Again, I say its over due.

Now, the Police are stepping up their efforts too.  Parents being arrested for acting like asses publicly is pretty common now in the news.  But a player being charged criminally for a cheap hit from behind is pretty new.  Don’t think the police should ever do it?  Watch the video;

Yep, the player is down on his knees, and this idiot comes in an crushes him.

Police say late last month, the player, who cannot be identified due to his age, was charged with assault with a weapon, and assault causing bodily harm.

He also received a four game suspension from Hockey Eastern Ontario following a disciplinary hearing. Parents of the injured player say the penalty was inadequate.

Inadequate is an understatement when you consider the injured player has since been diagnosed with ocular nerve dysfunction as has been forced to quit all sports.  Yep, the kid cant even play any more.

Still think the game doesn’t need to be cleaned up?
