AAU Hockey Under The UHU Banner Continues To Grow With Canadian Expansion

The United Hockey Union is the ice hockey extension of the Amateur Athletic Union.  As many know, the UHU is the governing body for the Western States Hockey League.  What many may not know is that the UHU is growing, and not by small numbers either.

The UHU has been adding Youth Hockey to its lineup over the last few years in the United States and Canada.  Now they add another junior hockey entry with the eleven team Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League.

The CPJHL is a first year league.  Its a first year league though that is highly organized and supported by experienced business and hockey people.

The following release was received by TJHN yesterday;

The Canadian Premier Junior Hockey League announced today that the league has been officially approved for sanctioning by the United Hockey Union (UHU). The UHU is the Junior hockey branch of AAU Ice Hockey.

A process that began last October when Stephane Laveault first reached out to UHU President Ron White, the agreement was finalized with a trip to Toronto by White. League owners met with White in mid-April to complete the process after all eleven teams were announced.

“The meeting with Ron White in April went very well,” said Laveault. “The owners are very pleased to be working with someone with such a great wealth of knowledge and willing to help in any way he can. We look forward to working together with the AAU and UHU for many years to come.”

CPJHL Commissioner Bryan Elliott said, “It is a real honour for the CPJHL to be sanctioned by the UHU. The AAU is the fastest growing hockey body in the USA and has made significant roads into Ontario with two different minor hockey leagues.”

Established in 2011, the United Hockey Union currently sanctions the Western States Hockey League, Western Prospects League and the National College Prospects Hockey League.

“The AAU gives the CPJHL credibility and will enable us to meet our mandate of providing an excellent league to not only play in, but to be an owner in,” added Elliott. “Congratulations goes out to Mr. Ron White from the UHU and the CPJHL Ownership Executive Group for making this partnership happen.”
