An Advisers Life – Those Who Say They Can And Those Who Say They Cant Are Both Usually Right

Those who say they cant and those who say they can are both usually right. Confucius said these words a few thousand years ago. Some simple truths simply never change with the passage of time.

I have worked with players at the highest levels and players just beginning their careers. Truly in all of my years of working with some incredible athletes, nothing has been proven to be true more often than these words spoken by Confucius.

Talent will only take you so far. Hard work will only take you so far. It is the combination of talent, hard work and an unbreakable will to succeed that leads to success.

I have watched some incredible athletes give up on their dreams before pushing through those final barriers of success.

I have watched some less talented players push through the barriers of success put in front of them by sheer determination and a never give up attitude.

When I work with players, it is imperative to help build and tune this will to succeed. It is critical to learning how to overcome challenges, and developing a never say die attitude.

As tryout season ends. This is one of the most important things that players need to remember. Those who have made the team and those that have not.

He who says he can and he who says he can not are both usually right.

Which person are you?
