Arizona Redhawks Hire Elvis

Get all shook up.  The Arizona Redhawks Junior Hockey Club in Peoria has become the first sports organization in the country to have its own official Elvis.

“We’re quite excited,” said Operations Director John Guy.  “Elvis will be at our arena on Saturday night, October 4th to meet our fans, sign autographs and pose for pictures.  It will be our very first dead entertainer and we’re looking to have more in the future.”

Freddy Spargo of Phoenix is the Elvis impersonator and he also does a myriad of other dead performers as well.  “We’re thinking of having him do Buddy Holly at our Airline Appreciation Night or Johnny Cash for our Incarceration Night,” said Guy.  “Since Michael Jackson just appeared at a recent show I can think of many creepy, inappropriate shows we can do. I wonder if anyone does a good Sam Kinison impersonation.”

The Redhawks are a member of the Western States Hockey League-a 30-team Junior A hockey league that stretches from Springfield, Missouri to Seattle.  The Redhawks open their season against the San Diego Junior Gulls the weekend of October 3rd thru 5th at the AZ Ice Arena on 83rd Avenue and Bell Road.

“Just wait until we really get cranked up,” Guy says.  “We’re looking at zombies, psychics, the Hanson brothers and the Blues brothers.  Oh yeah, we’re even having ghost busters.  I promise we’ll throw in an exciting hockey game as well.”
