The Aberdeen Wings, proud members of the North American Hockey League are pleased to announce that defenseman Daniel Billett has made a commitment to play NCAA Division I hockey for the Bemidji State University Beavers of the WCHA.
The announcement comes on the heels the NAHL Showcase Tournament in which over 350 college, pro and junior scouts are in attendance.
Billett, a defenseman from Highlands Ranch, Colorado played very well in the tournament for the Aberdeen Wings, in 4 games scoring two points both assists. Billett is a returning player for the Wings after putting up two goals and 11 assists during the 2013-14 season.
“Daniel’s commitment to Bemidji State is well-deserved,” said Wings head coach Francis Anzalone. “He has worked diligently both on and off the ice over the last 13 months to get to this point.”
Billett returned to the Aberdeen Wings for his 2nd season in the North American Hockey League. Before joining the Wings last season, Billett was a member of the Culver Military Academy where he put up two goals and 12 assists. While at Culver, Billett was a 4.0 student enrolled in honors classes.
“We look forward to continuing to push Daniel as he strives to get better everyday,” added Anzalone.
Billett now joins former Wings forward TJ Roo (2013-2014 NAHL Rookie of the Year), forward Cory Ward (2010-2011 All-NAHL Rookie First Team), forward Jordan Heller (2012-2014), and goaltender Reid Mimmack (2011-2012). Billett also becomes the 25th Division I college commitment of the Aberdeen Wings in just the franchise’s four seasons.
