Blackhawks trio leads Mattawa past Blind River in Noelville

NOELVILLE – The Mattawa Blackhawks trio of Reed Gregory, Tyler Brodersen and Tanner Bowditch amassed nine points between them to help pace their club past the Blind River Beavers 5-2 Saturday evening in front of a boisterous crowd in a Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League neutral site affair at Noelville Arena.

Mattawa got on the board first thanks to a power play marker from Brett Ouderkirk at 2:09.

Blind River came right back to tie it just over a minute later as Chris Hrabec notched his third of the season.

The Blackhawks retook the lead at 14:11 of the first with Bowditch finishing off the work of Gregory and Brodersen.

Mattawa then built up a 4-1 cushion after 40 minutes as they struck twice in the middle stanza with the man advantage on efforts supplied by Gregory and Bowditch.

Gregory added one more with six minutes remaining before Chris Ordoobadi wrapped up the scoring with 94 seconds to go.

Josh Horner made 38 saves to pick up the win for the Hawks.

Braddock Baalerud and Zach Mills both saw time in net for the Beavers as they combined to face 45 shots in defeat.
