BRATISLAVA CAPITALS CONTINUE DOMINANT START WITH 8–2 ROAD VICTORY OVER PRAGUE GUARDIANS

The VSM Bratislava Capitals continued their impressive start to the inaugural European Union College Hockey League (EUCHL) season Friday night, delivering a commanding 8–2 road victory over the VSFS Prague Guardians.

Bratislava overwhelmed the home side offensively, outshooting Prague 43–19 and scoring six goals in a decisive second period to take control of the contest. The Capitals added two more goals in the third period to complete a comprehensive performance on the road.

The victory further strengthens Bratislava’s early-season momentum as the team represents VSM Bratislava and City University of Seattle in European university hockey.

CAPITALS SET THE TONE EARLY

The Capitals opened the scoring at 19:15 of the first period when Ryan Hayes found the back of the net on the power play. Matthew Mirda and Raphael-Noah Boiteau collected the assists, giving Bratislava an early advantage.

Steven Mense doubled the lead at 13:56, scoring at even strength with assists from John Marshall Duffy and Tomas Salac. Bratislava carried a 2–0 lead into the first intermission while limiting Prague to just six shots in the opening period.

SIX-GOAL SECOND PERIOD BREAKS THE GAME OPEN

Bratislava took complete control in the second period, producing a four-goal burst that put the game firmly out of reach.

Ignac Bene opened the second-period scoring at 13:57, assisted by Boiteau and Mense. Rhys Doyle followed at 12:53, with Mense and Tommy Jacques recording the assists.

The Capitals continued to capitalize on their opportunities. Jacques scored on the power play at 4:01, assisted by Bene and Doyle, before Bene added his second goal of the night at 1:51 with Mirda and Jacques picking up assists.

With the Capitals generating sustained offensive pressure, Prague struggled to contain the visitors’ speed and finishing ability.

BRATISLAVA FINISHES STRONG

The Capitals maintained their attacking pressure in the third period.

John Marshall Duffy scored at 12:03, extending Bratislava’s lead further. Doyle completed the scoring at 7:49, finishing his second goal of the game with assists from Jacques and Hayes.

Prague managed two goals during the contest, but Bratislava’s offensive depth and ability to produce across all three periods ensured there would be no comeback.

DOYLE, BENE AND JACQUES LEAD THE WAY

Doyle and Bene each scored twice, while Jacques contributed a goal and three assists to lead the Capitals’ offensive attack. Mense recorded a goal and two assists, while Hayes, Mirda and Boiteau each contributed multiple points.

Bratislava also demonstrated its effectiveness on special teams, converting three power-play opportunities into goals.

In goal, Brasco Cirillo delivered a solid performance, stopping 17 of 18 shots faced over 60 minutes. The Capitals’ defensive effort limited Prague to just 19 shots for the game.

ANOTHER STATEMENT FOR EUROPEAN COLLEGE HOCKEY

The Capitals’ 8–2 victory is another encouraging result for a program built around the combination of competitive hockey and higher education. With an international roster of student-athletes, Bratislava is working to establish itself as a leading program in the EUCHL’s inaugural season.

For the Capitals, the performance in Prague demonstrated offensive depth, strong special-teams execution and the ability to maintain pressure away from home.

As the league continues its first regular-season campaign, Bratislava will look to build on this momentum and continue pursuing its goal of competing for the inaugural EUCHL championship.
