Cents top scorer Soquila commits to Alabama-Huntsville

The Merritt Centennials are pleased to announce the commitment of 20-year-old Regan Soquila to the University of Alabama in Huntsville of the NCAA for September of 2013.

In 172 regular season games with the Centennials, Soquila finishes his BCHL career with 61 goals and 115 assists and 71 penalty minutes. He also had 6 goals and 11 assists in 18 career BCHL plyaoff games with Merritt.

“We are very happy for Regan and his commitment to the University of Alabama Huntsville this fall,” said Cents Head Coach and GM Luke Pierce. “Regan has been one of the top players in the BCHL over the past couple of years and is extremely deserving of this opportunity,”

“During the course of his three years in Merritt, Regan was an outstanding contributor on and off the ice and was an instrumental part of reviving this franchise.

“Although Regan was eligible to return this season, we were aware of his desire to attend university this fall and have been working with him to make that a reality. His talent will be greatly missed here in Merritt, but we are excited for him and this opportunity to continue his career at the Division I level. Along with former teammates Brent Fletcher and Chad Brears, Regan will certainly help to make the Chargers a tough team to play in the coming years.”
