Cochrane beats Timmins

COCHRANE, Ont. – Dustin Cordeiro tallied three times and set-up two others to help propel the Cochrane Crunch to an 8-2 victory over the Timmins Rock Tuesday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Tim Horton Event Centre.

Cochrane got going offensively midway through the first period on Aviv Milner’s 13th of the season.

Timmins countered with the equalizer 36 seconds later thanks to Tristan Salesse, who supplied his 28th goal for the Rock.

The Crunch came back and countered twice in the latter stages of the first frame with Hunter Atchison’s NOJHL-best 46th at 17:35 and a power play marker from Jon Marzec less than a minute later.

Cordeiro made it 4-1 for the home side early in the second before Timmins got one from Jared Hester at 4:58.

Cochrane restored their three-goal lead at 11:21 with Cordeiro collecting his second of the stanza.

The Crunch then put it away in the third tacking on the night’s final three efforts.

Milner got another at 9:57 before Cordeiro finished off his hat trick and five-point evening at 14:07 while John Stevenson notched his 25th in the late going to finish off the one-sided decision converting on a man advantage opportunity.

Connor Lovie and Brenden Van Sweden dished out three assists apiece for the Crunch.

Shots on goal favoured Timmins 48-40 with Brett Young picking up the win and Logan Ferrington the loss.
