COCHRANE, Ont. – Jeran Knorr scored twice to help the Cochrane Crunch defeat the Timmins Rock 5-3 Saturday evening in Northern Ontario Junior Hockey League action at the Tim Horton Event Centre.
Knorr got Cochrane going nine minutes into the contest as he converted on a Crunch power play.
Jon Marzec extended the lead for the hosts at 11:51, but Cole Gilligan got one back for Timmins a couple shifts later to make it a 2-1 game after one.
The Crunch broke it open in the middle frame as they added to their league-leading goal total with three more off the sticks of Brenden Van Sweden, Jeremy McNeil and Knorr, who collected his second of the night and 20th tally of the season.
The Rock battled back in the third getting a man advantage marker 55 seconds in thanks to Jordan Rendle and an even strength effort from Kealy Cummings with 15:18 to go.
Brett Young in the Cochrane net held the fort from there as the Crunch pulled out the victory.
Brandon Workun supplied two assists in the decision for Cochrane with Aaron Kerr having a couple of helpers for Timmins.
Shots on goal favoured the Crunch by a 52-33 margin with Young picking up the win and Matthew Nixon the loss.
