Confessions Of A Junior Hockey Coach – Making Intelligent Decisions

For some of you, today writing is going to get through, and for some of you it not matter what I or anyone else say, you will continue to make stupid decisions.

How many time do you coach talk about making the right decision in the game plan in order to win the game?  All the time, yes?

All the time, the coach talk about sticking to the system, to the plan, to what was practiced, yes?  This make a lot of sense do it not?

If you answer yes to these question and you a player, they why do so many of you continue to try to move forward with no plan on where you are going or how to get there?

Why do so many of you refuse to actually listen to people who are telling you thing that will help you get ahead?

Why do you continue to make stupid decision?  Why do you continue to make emotional decision?

Most important, why do so many of you continue to not look in the mirror and honestly evaluate youself as a player, and you goals within the game?

Education is about listening and learning from experience.  Reading books in school are books filled with information based on experience.  Do you question chemical analysis?  Do you question algebra equation?  Do you question photosynthesis of plants?

Most probably answer no to those question.  But so many who answer no to those question, refuse to listed to the expert trying to help them find their way in hockey.

It is time to start listening for the player who is tired of getting cut at every camp.  You are simply going to the wrong camps.  Either the level is too high for you, or you think you better than you really are.

Figure out the plan and listen because you are not that special.
